What makes a good cat toy?

A good cat toy does much more than just look cute — it stimulates your cat’s natural instincts to hunt, chase, and jump. When you make cat toys yourself, you control the materials, making them safer and more durable than many store-bought options.

Most cats love toys that move, make sounds, or have interesting textures. A rustly toy or one filled with catnip grabs their attention instantly. You can easily make one using a small rectangle of scrap fabric, some stuffing and catnip, and basic sewing skills.
